Kitchen remodeling in The Heights

The Heights has some of Houston’s oldest and most loved homes, many built between 1900 and 1940. Bungalows, cottages and Craftsman houses line streets like Heights Boulevard and Yale Street, and almost every owner wants a kitchen that works for modern life while keeping the home’s character.

Old Heights kitchens are small and closed off. Owners often want to open a wall to the dining room or living area. That can mean a beam, an engineer’s letter and a City permit. Behind the cabinets we often find old wiring, galvanized pipe and rotted subfloor from decades of small leaks.

Much of the Houston Heights is a historic district. Exterior changes, such as an addition or new windows, may need design review before a permit. Interior kitchen work usually does not, but we check before we start. Homes built before 1978 also need lead-safe work.

We give you a fixed-price scope with dates in writing, and both spouses sign on a homestead. Licensed plumbers and electricians handle their trades. Selections are made before demo, so the cabinets and counters arrive on time.

What we do in The Heights

Does a Heights kitchen remodel need historic review?

Usually only exterior changes do. We check the district rules for your address before we start.
