Barbershop near Museum District, Houston
The Museum District is just north of our shop, so a barbershop near the Museum District means a short hop down Main Street or Almeda. The area is packed with museums, Hermann Park and Rice University, and a lot of the people here have jobs with a dress code.
Housing ranges from historic homes and bungalows to mid-rise apartments. Staff from the museums, students and joggers from Hermann Park are regulars at nearby barbershops, and many want a neat cut with little upkeep.
Popular requests are a classic taper, a haircut and beard combo and a hot towel shave before a gallery opening or a wedding. Parents bring kids for school-year cuts on Saturdays, and weekday afternoons are the easiest time to get a chair.
If you are visiting Houston for a museum day, a line-up takes only 15 minutes and is an easy add-on before dinner. Walking around Hermann Park in July is hot, so many locals pick a shorter style in the summer. Ask your barber what grows out well if you will be away for a few weeks.
