What changes the price
- Fade style and how long the cut takes.
- The barber’s level and demand.
- Neighborhood: shops in Montrose and Downtown often charge more.
- Add-ons such as beard work, hot towel and design.
- Walk-in vs. booked, and weekend slots.
- Whether the shop uses a deposit for busy times.
Ways to save
- Book a membership if you cut every two weeks. Cut Club is $70 a month for two cuts.
- Get a line-up between cuts instead of a full haircut.
- Ask about kids’ and senior prices.
- Book weekday times, which are often easier to get.
- Skip add-ons you do not need and ask the price first.
Cost questions
Is tipping expected at a Houston barbershop?
Most people tip 15 to 20 percent. It is not included in the price.
Are walk-in cuts cheaper?
Usually the price is the same. Booking saves time, not money.
Does the price change by hair type?
Some shops charge more for long, thick or heavily textured hair. Ask when you book.
Do you charge for no-shows?
Saturday bookings take a $10 deposit that goes toward your cut. Cancel at least 4 hours ahead.
