What changes the price
- Stylist level and demand.
- Hair length and thickness.
- How many steps your color takes.
- Product used: bond builders, toners and smoothing kits cost more.
- Time in the chair: color is often priced by the hour.
- Neighborhood: Heights, River Oaks and Uptown tend to cost more than the suburbs.
- Add-ons like a cut after color.
Ways to save
- Book a free color consult before you commit to a color.
- Pick a lower-maintenance color like balayage with a soft root.
- Use a membership: Blowout Club is $99 a month for two blowouts.
- Ask if a junior stylist is available, usually at a lower price.
- Use color-safe products at home so your color lasts longer.
